Setting up Microsoft Outlook Express with your e-mail account
Step 1

Launch Microsoft Outlook Express and go to Tools > Accounts.

Step 2

In the Internet Accounts menu, click Add, and choose Mail from the flyout menu. This will begin the Internet Connection Wizard to setup Outlook Express for use with your e-mail account.

Step 3

In the Display name: field, type in your name, and click Next.

Step 4

In the E-mail address: field, type your full e-mail address, and click Next.

Step 5

In the E-mail Server Names dialog, perform the following:

- Select IMAP from the drop-down list so that the top sentence reads: My incoming mail server is a IMAP server.

- In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) server: field, type

- In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: field, type

- Click Next.

Step 6

In the Account name: field, type your full e-mail address. In the Password: field, type your password. Leave the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) unchecked, and click Next.

Step 7

In the Congratulations dialog, click Finish. This will exit the wizard.

Step 8

In the Internet Accounts window, click the Mail tab. Click to highlight your e-mail account, and click Properties. Under the Servers tab, click to check the My server requires authentication field. Do not change any other settings the Servers Tab.

Step 9

(Highly Recommended) While still in the Properties window, click the Advanced tab, and perform the following:

Server Port Numbers

- Outgoing: Check This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). Ensure that the text box shows 465.

- Incoming: Check This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL). Ensure that the text box shows 993.

Click OK, then Close.

Step 10

Your Outlook Express window should look similar to the image below. You are now ready to send and receive e-mail from your e-mail account using Outlook Express. To send e-mail from your outbox and check incoming mail, click the Send/Recv button on the Outlook Express Tool bar while in the Outlook Express Inbox.
